Basketball Play - Out-of-bounds Play "Pick the Picker"

From the Coach’s Clipboard Basketball Playbook, @ http://www.coachesclipboard.net

Remember that the most important thing in taking the ball out-of-bounds is
making a good inbounds pass
. Don't force a bad pass just to complete this play.

Out-of-bounds play, Box

Call "Box"
Set up in the box formation as in Diagram A.

See Diagram B.
O5 starts the play by yelling "go!". O3 v-cuts in and drops back for the outside pass, and safety.

O2 sets pick for O1, so that O1 can cut to the left corner. O1 cuts to left corner and shoots if he/she gets the ball.

See Diagram C.
4 moves over and sets pick for O2, and then O2 cuts hard to the basket on the right side of the lane for the open lay-up (Diagram D)

Not seen here, if the inside defenders (X2 and X4) switch the screen, O4 will seal the screened defender (X2)and roll to the hoop to the left low block for the possible pass and lay-up.
