Usually this play is run out of the 3-out, 2-in motion offense, but you could run it from any set. This play gives us several options... an open shot for O2 or O4, or a post up with O5.
|
Start the play with O1 dribbling to the right wing. O2 cuts around double-screens set by O4 and O5, and goes to the top. O2 could get the pass here for the shot. Meanwhile, after O2 cuts around the screen, O4 moves to the corner and could get the pass (diagram B). After screening, O5 posts up inside for the pass from O1. This is often the best option if you have a good, strong post player, as often the defense is more concerned about O2 cutting to the top, and O5 slips free. Also, the defense will often switch the screens and you get a big-little mis-match in the post. |
