Fundamental Skills.   Defensive Footwork, Slides.  When guarding your opponent with the ball, have your weight on the balls of your feet and slide your feet sideways, using quick, short steps. Don't get your feet crossed. Don't hop. If you get beaten, don't just reach-in and swipe at the ball. Instead, turn and sprint after your opponent. Once you get in front of her again, get back into your defensive stance.
