Fundamental Skills. Chest Pass. The chest pass is the most basic pass. Make a good, crisp pass with some "zip" on it. The ball should hit the receiver in the chest or waist area, or when passing to a cutter, slightly in front of, or "leading" the cutter. Step into the pass, and push the pass out with a snap of the wrists with thumbs ending up pointing toward the receiver. Also see bounce pass.
