Outside Play.   Receiving the pass when the defender is up close.   There are two ways to catch the pass on the perimeter, depending on whether the defender is playing off you, or up close. Always, you want to end up in triple threat position. Here, the receiver comes toward the ball and turns her back to the defender, shielding the ball, and makes a quick back-pivot, ripping the ball across into triple threat position. The left foot becomes the pivot foot.
