Today's Theme... Two New Plays
Here are two new plays (with video) for your consideration... both simple and effective.
"MSU 1-4 Circle" - here's a simple play from Tom Izzo. The diagram shows the 1-4 set. O2 cuts underneath to the left wing, as O3 cuts high over the high post players. O1 passes to O5. O3 uses a screen from O4, and cuts to the hoop for the pass from O5 and a lay-up. Not shown here or in the video below, if the defenders switch that screen, O4 could slip the screen and cut to the hoop for the pass from O5.
Baseline OB Play "Box-Gator" - this play uses a double elevator screen. Diagram A shows a box set with O4 and O5 setting an elevator screen for O2 to cut through. O2 could get the pass and an open shot.
After O2 cuts through, O3 and O5 quickly move into position to set the second elevator screen (diagram B). O4 cuts through the O3-O5 elevator screen for the pass and lay-up.
