Today's Theme... Two Baseline OB Plays - "Blue" & "Rub"

"Blue" is a new baseline out-of-bounds play that uses a 1-4 low "flat" set.

This play uses a screen and pin action. See the diagrams and video below. O3 cuts out and O4 passes to O3. O5 moves to the elbow area.

Diagram B. O3 passes to O5.  The inbounder O4 back-screens for O2.  O2 cuts through and could get the pass from O5, but if not, moves out to the opposite corner (as O1 rotates up to the wing).

Diagram C.  O4 pins the X2 defender and cuts to the hoop for the pass from O5, and a lay-up.

"Rub" uses a stack or "line" formation.  See the diagram below. Stack on the lane line opposite the ball. The bottom two players O2 and O3 cut across to ballside (O2 to corner, O3 to short corner) and take their defenders with them. Either could get open for a shot. O5 screens X5 as O4 fakes a cut in and then rubs around O5's screen for the inbounds pass and layup. If the X5 defender switches and picks up O4, then O5 slips the screen and looks for the inbounds pass and layup.
